Heidi Abra was raised between the rambling trails of Laurel Canyon, the punk clubs of Los Angeles and the medieval castles of Europe, so she came by her love of New World freedom and Old World grace quite naturally.
Discovered by legendary designer Stephen Sprouse in New York, Heidi’s early modeling career had her traveling extensively in Europe and Asia, working for Giorgio Armani and Comme des Garçons, among others. Profoundly affected by the rich culture she absorbed during her years abroad, she abandoned the catwalk to get a degree in Fine Art at California Institute of the Arts.
Heidi began to forge her own vision while still in school, creating handmade jewelry that attracted a circle of devoted collectors and was sold in such exclusive stores as Maxfield, Fred Segal and Neiman Marcus in Los Angeles, as well as Henri Bendel and Bergdorf Goodman in New York.
She moved on to designing clothing and accessories that were featured in: Vogue, In/Style, Glamour, Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Magazine, and The New York Times to name but a few.
True to her own sense of what is beautiful, and informed by her wide-ranging explorations of history and art, Heidi has a unique vision based on unexpected and resonant juxtapositions.
For her, pairing a rare gemstone necklace with a simple tee, or a Chantilly lace blouse with well-worn jeans is a creative gesture. She remains committed to designing and curating magical and timeless pieces that allow others to express and delight their true natures.
